Somethings You Need to Know About Car Refrigerators

Currently, there are two common types of car refrigerators on the market: Semiconductor car refrigerators and compressor car refrigerators.

• SemiconductorCar Refrigerators

Semiconductor car refrigerators are the most commonly used type today. They have both cooling and heating functions.  

The advantages of this type are low power consumption, simple structure, minimal vibration, and low noise. They are also relatively affordable, usually priced in the hundreds of yuan. However, the disadvantages are equally obvious—the storage space is limited, usually around 10 liters, with larger models ranging from 20 to 30 liters. They can only store a few bottles of drinks and a small amount of food. Their cooling capacity is also limited, with the lowest temperature reaching only 0-5°C.

• Compressor Car Refrigerators

Compressor car refrigerators are similar to household refrigerators, using compressor power for cooling. They can reach temperatures as low as -18°C, allowing for freezing and ice-making, with no restrictions on storage size, ranging from several dozen liters to hundreds of liters. However, compressor car fridges are heavier, vibrate more, and are noisier, and they cannot provide heating.

What Else Should You Pay Attention to When Using a Car Refrigerator?

• Monitor the Battery Status

Using a car refrigerator for an extended time can deplete the car battery's power. So, it’s essential to regularly check the battery status if you’ve installed a car refrigerator. Address any issues immediately to prevent the vehicle from stalling due to low battery power.

• Ensure Proper Ventilation

When using a car refrigerator, make sure the air outlets and ventilation holes are unobstructed. Keep the fridge’s intake away from heat sources. Also, when switching from the heating function to the cooling function, turn off the power and let the refrigerator cool for 5-10 minutes before restarting to avoid overheating and damaging the cooling chip.

Lastly, it's important to remember that once the car is turned off, the refrigerator will stop cooling, so you shouldn't leave items like ice cubes or ice cream in the fridge after turning off the engine. It's best to check the refrigerator when you exit the car and remove any perishable items that can't be stored at room temperature.
